Cancelling Airbourne

Cancelling Airbourne

This annual festival of fuel burning has had its day. We need to look at the promotion of jet engine technology and it's promotion as an "entertainment". These are weapons and polluting weapons at that. Time to move on.

Points

The Eastbourne Walking Festival every Seoptember is rapidly expanding in popularity. If a fraction of the investment in Airbourne were to be diverted to helping to develop the WalkFest, then the Festival could become the environmentally-friendly replacement for Airbourne as well as helping to achieve the modal shift away from cars that the town desperately needs.

The idea of airshows has had its day. I realise that Eastbourne has an influx of visitors for the event but most people come for the day, spend money with external organisations on the front and then leave. The town is left with even more pollution and the notion that this dated event is worth the aggravation.
